Attention Rising 9th Graders!

8th Grade News Logo

On Tuesday, April 14th, students will be pre-registering for their high school classes during their regular class time. If your child is not registered for a High School Choice Program, then your child will be registered for classes at their neighborhood school. However, if your child is attending Savannah Arts or the Jenkins High School Choice Program, these schools will contact students and parents directly to schedule students at another time. If your child is attending a private or out of county/state school, the district protocol is for the student to still register for classes with their home/neighborhood school. However, if you are certain that your child will not be attending a SCCPSS’s high school, please email your child’s Homeroom Teacher and CC Ms. Rachel Newsome by Friday, April 3rd. Please include the name of the private or out-of-county/state high school your child will be attending for the next school year in your email.

Please note: this event is for students only. Once students are pre-registered for classes, if you have any questions regarding their schedule, please email the High School Counseling Department at the school your child will be attending next year. For any other general questions, please email the STEM Counseling Department at Rachel.Newsome@sccpss.com or Jonette.Ross@sccpss.com

STEM Science Fair!

Congratulations to these STEM students for placing at the Regional Level of the GA State Science Fair: Emilia Mackowiak, Lundyn Brown, and Addison Padgett. They will be traveling to compete in the State Level Fair in Athens, GA. Good luck to these students!

School Climate Survey

We need YOU! Parents, please fill out this GA Family Climate Survey!

The STEM Academy @ Bartlett will take the new Georgia School Climate Survey this year. Each parent or guardian is invited to take the family version to answer questions about the current school or schools you have a child or children attending. If two or more children attend the same school, please only complete one survey for that school.

The survey measures what you think about how the school engages with families. Answers are not linked to names in any way. When typing answers, please do not give names or information that you don’t want to share with this school. Data will be shared with school leaders to help improve the school and will be published on the GaDOE website.

Please help by sharing your honest opinion on this 22-question survey. To take the survey, please click this link: https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=679DFB7F.

PowerSchool Logo

POWER SCHOOL - PARENT ACCESS - REQUIRED

Every parent/guardian should monitor his/her child's grades at least once a week. Parents can have direct access to each teacher's gradebook. Grades will begin posting after the 10th day of school and will be updated at least once per week. Student report cards will be viewable only online at the end of each quarter via Power School Parent Access.

If you had access last year at any SCCPSS school, your login information and access code remain the same. If you have never had access before, please use this link for accessing the Request for a PowerSchool Parent Access account.

Students should have access so they may monitor their own grades as well.

Nurse Notes Logo

MEDICATION MUST BE DELIVERED TO NURSE JAMIE BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN

Important Reminder:

SCCPSS policy states that students may not bring or carry any medication on their person. This means any medication in a backpack, purse, bag, etc. Students may never bring medication of any type to school - no aspirin, Motrin, vitamins, prescriptions, inhalers, epi-pens, sunscreen, over-the-counter products, etc. All medication and over-the-counter products must be signed in with Nurse Jamie by a parent or guardian. Please email nurse Jaimie for a blank verification form.

Please understand you may not have your student carry the medication to or from the clinic. Students that carry inhalers or epi pens must have Asthma/Food Allergy Action Plans on file in the clinic. Thank you for helping to keep all our students safe and healthy! With proper physician orders, inhalers and epi-pens may be issued to students by Nurse Jamie to carry on campus.

At The STEM Academy, we prioritize the health and well-being of all students. To help create a comfortable and safe environment, we kindly ask that you send only stick or roll-on deodorants, perfumes, or colognes with your child. Please avoid sending any spray versions of these products, as they can trigger migraines, asthma symptoms, and other sensitivities for some students.

Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring that all of our students can thrive in a healthy school environment!

Please contact our school nurse at jamie.vanderark@sccpss.com with any questions.
